Audi Q7 ranks on top among luxurious SUVs. Our review is based on analysis of 82 published reviews and test drives. The new 2010 Audi Q7 has an elegant design, spacious cargo room and lots of safety features. However, due to its low fuel economy and high price, there are plenty of other vehicles that offer more for the money. Audi Q7 excellent built quality and luxurious smart looking interior makes it a solid choice for seven passenger luxury SUV. However, it is not the quickest or roomiest crossover. Unless you purchase the turbo diesel model, but it doesn’t offer the same value as other competitors. It is also the most expensive vehicle in the class and with a poor fuel economy. The turbo diesel model fuel economy almost tops all other SUVs of the same class with 17 mpg city and 25 mpg on highway, but it also costs $4000 more than other Q7 models. It is also environment friendly car with environmentally progressive nature.

Performance & Acceleration

Audi Q7 offers adequate performance for the price, but many reviewers are not happy with its heavy curb weight. Q7 offers 3.6 liter V6 engine with 280 horsepower and 4.2 liter V8 with 350 horsepower both are paired with automatic transmission. Last year Audi introduced turbo diesel powered 3.0 liter V6 TDI with 221 horsepower. The diesel engine is liked by many reviewers because it sounds and performs like a gasoline engine. The base V6 engine is still criticized for sluggish acceleration. Fuel economy of both engines is below par, V6 engine achieves 14 mpg city and 19 mpg on highway. On the other hand, V8 model achieves 13 mpg in city and 18 mpg on the highway. The turbo diesel model is much impressive in the fuel economy with 17 mpg in city and 25 mpg on the highway, but you have to pay more for diesel model. The handling of Q7 is about average due to its hefty weight. Its size and weight make it difficult to manage the parking lot maneuvers.

Interior & Exterior

Reviewers are happy with a high level of versatile cargo space. The seven seat Q7 has a large exterior and enough room inside too. First and second rows are praised by the reviewers, but the third row is barely even accommodating small children. Leather upholstery is standard in the car.

The other standard interior features include heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a power tailgate, a six-disc CD changer, and Bluetooth capability. Audi Q7 provides 10.9 cubic feet of cargo space, which is quite large for three row vehicle. Audi Q7 provides 72.5 cubic feet of cargo space with 2nd and 3rd row folded down.

Exterior is like a beast looking and likes by most of the reviewers, but some reviewers criticized the heavy and bulky styling.

Audi Q7 comes standard with front and driver seat airbags, head curtain airbags for all three seating rows. There are other safety features available as an option like rear side airbags for second-row outboard occupants for $350.
