Power & Performance

You can choose between four turbo petrol engines; 1.8 litre 158bhp, 2.0 litre 208bhp, 2.0 litre TTS 270bhp and 2.0 litre five cylinder TT RS with 335bhp. All the engines are agile, but keeping in mind balance of performance and fuel economy 2.0 litres with 208bhp is the best option. There is also a 2.0 litre diesel engine that you can select producing 168bhp, which is fast and manages the fuel economy of 50 miles per gallon. All the models comes with standard six speed manual gearbox, you can also choose the awesome S Tronic six or seven speed semi-auto transmission on some versions.

When it comes to ride and handling it feels like a complete sports car that offers sharp handling on twists and turns. You will love the quick steering, good balance and strong grip that make the car more nimble. The two wheels drive models feel quicker than the four wheel drive models. You will enjoy the ride inside the car as long as you avoid larger wheels.

The road noise is kept to minimum when the fabric roof is up, but you may feel low noise on motorway speeds. The RS models have larger wheels and suffer more from tyre and road noise as compared to smaller ones. You will love the turbocharged petrol engine because of the exhaust voice and the diesel engine offers smooth performance and suppressed exhaust noise.

Interior & Exterior

When you are inside the roadster, you will love the feel from driving to sitting as a passenger. The sports steering wheel is perfectly adjusted to provide solid grip and all the controls are wisely placed. You can adjust the wheel and steering according to your desire. There is low visibility on sides when the roof is down and you might miss one or two things.

There is comfortable space for seating of two and decent boot space to store luggage. The advantage is that you can store same amount of luggage when the roof is folded down. It is equipped with latest controls and standard features like alloy wheels, climate control, and aluminium trim. The sport models add more quality features such as leather upholstery, xenon headlamps, sports suspension pack and attractive controls.

It is safe to drive thanks to advanced safety features in the car like stability control, front and side airbags. There are also safety systems like an alarm and engine immobiliser to prevent theft. Audi TT Roadster is not yet crash tested by Euro NCAP, but the score for Audi TT 2009 was 4 stars.

eBest Cars Verdict

You will get decent discounts because strong dealership and it has good resale values too. The running costs are super economical with the diesel engine, but the sports model will surely cost heavy on your wallet. It is not the greenest car and the CO2 emissions will remain between 141-225 g/km. It falls in tax band F-K with expected early rate of £140-£280. Audi TT Roadster is definitely a best buy if you are looking for style, luxury and economy altogether.
