Given excellence in its communication of steering, the BMW 1 Series Convertible is effortlessly and comfortably driven. BMW 1 Series sports model offers impressive aggression that will make you contended. Those wanting an economic gas mileage will also enjoy the 1 Series’ diesel model.
For a BMW though, the 1 Series might not live up to what is expected in one of their convertibles. The interior is somewhat cheap-looking for a luxury car, and the exterior does not offer very much innovation aesthetically.

Power and Performance
With a wider variety of choices, the BMW 1 Series features plenty of options for their petrol cars and proposes three diesel models. The 2.0 litre versions, the 118i and 120i, are kind of slow in comparison to those six-cylinder 3.0 litre engines, like the 125i and 135i. Double turbocharged, the 135i produces 300bhp. The 125i produces 215bhp, and all models have plenty of horsepower. Diesel versions, like the 120d, run at a nice middle-ground of 174bhp.
At the top of the line for this series, the BMW 1 Series Convertible 135i Sport Plus Edition can go from 0 – 60mph in barely over 5.5 seconds. It has a top speed of 155mph, an average gas mileage of almost 33mpg and a tank range of 380 miles.
Interior & Exterior
Having a cloth top and cheap looking interior, the BMW 1 Series Convertible is not quite up to par with BMW’s reputation in luxury cars. Rival convertibles tend to have hard tops and a bit more intrigue when it comes to body style.
With a plethora of dashboard knobs and buttons that all look alike, the driver may become a little confused until he or she memorizes the controls. Visibility is poor and the tug-of-war with the seating adjustment might be a little annoying.
Unfortunately, there is not much space for what is meant to seat four people. The front seats offer enough room, but those in the back will be uncomfortable.
Safety and Reliability
BMW is one to almost always ensure the safety of its customers, luckily. The 1 Series Convertible includes rollover protection, even when the roof is down, along with a safety body shell. An efficient airbag system protects passengers and is activated within milliseconds. Drivers will not have to worry about a flat tire, as the tires are functional even without any pressure. This series also has a dynamic stability in its control system, and adaptive headlights make driving easierputting one’s vision in a better light while driving in the dark.
eBest Cars Verdict
The BMW 1 Series Convertible gives the buyer plenty of options in choice of model and engine type. Other than the 1.8 litre version which can run a little slowly, the car bids amazing handling, power and pull. BMW 1 Series dashboard is confusing and the aesthetics of this convertible do not meet the expectations of standards for a BMW automobile. There are cars like Mazda MX5 Convertible and Citroen DS3 Cabriolet that are improved a lot from their previous versions.
