The all new BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo (GT) attracts the most car lovers. Our review is based on our own analysis of BMW 5 Series GT and various car reviews published online. The BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo is one car that will be really hard to properly categorize. When we compare it with the 7 series we see that it is shorter but it is also a lot taller than regular models in the 5 Series. This basically means that we are in front of a mix between BMW X5 and a Saloon model. The car is definitely big.
This BMW series is one for those of you that do not want to make a compromise in choosing a simple off road, an estate model or a saloon. It is the perfect mix between all of them. It is obvious that we have a nice choice in front of us for everyone that wants such a vehicle and for those that are looking for something that is different.
Although it is different when compared with cars by other manufacturers in the same line of products, the 5 Series Gran Turismo is a tremendous car that manages to excel in most areas. It has a really good-looking interior, huge space for the passengers in the back and many extras that will make you want to buy. The engines are superb and all the extra equipment is of the highest quality possible.
BMW 5 Series GT Prices
As would be expected, BMW cars are more expensive but they make it up from other point of views. The lowest price is offered by the Hatchback BMW 530d SE 5dr £45,580 and the highest price will have to be paid for the Hatchback BMW 550i Executive 5dr £57,005.
Power and Performance
The best BMW models are available in BMW 5 GT series. This is even true with the starting model, the 530d. This engine is really refined and smooth and offers 245bhp. You can make it reach 62 mph in just 6.9 seconds, and we have to consider the fact that this is quite incredible since the weight of the car is of almost 2 tons. Even so, the performance is great and the engine is really quiet. This is especially true when driving on a motorway.
The best engine that the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo has to offer is 550i. It is a V8 4.4 litre engine that will use twin turbochargers in order to boost the power. The result is an amazing 407bhp. You will reach 62 mph in 5.5 seconds, and the only downside is that it offers just 25mpg. Every single model in the 5 GT series has an 8 speed automatic gearbox.
Interior and Exterior
The car is 5 meters long and offers so much room that you will feel really well. It can actually rival a luxury limousine when thinking about how much room you have and the SE models feature 5 seats. In reality, you are going to be more comfortable if you just accommodate 4 people. The executive models will offer 4-seats layouts.
You will love the fact that driving is a relaxed experience. No noise is heard, and the seats are very comfortable. However, remember that the lumbar support will only be standard when purchasing Executive Models. You can slide the back seats forward by a maximum of 10 cm in order to increase the boot space, although you most likely will not need this as there is more than enough space.
Safety and Reliability
The 2003 Saloon 5-Series brought in a rating of 4 out of 5 when talking about security but the new BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo models have not received the crash test. However, it is expected to easily gain the 5 stars because of all the extra features that are included. Every single model will come equipped with the very good Dynamic Stability Control Plus, which will offer many features like traction control, cornering braking control and brake drying. 6 airbags are present.
All BMW cars have a reputation of offering very good quality. This is especially true when referring to the engines. All that you could expect in terms of reliability has been taken care of, and we do not expect to have any problems when referring to reliability.
eBest Cars Verdict
Just as you might expect, the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo cars are offering you great engines, a lot of space and a really classy cabin. The seating position is great and the technology included is of the highest quality possible. The only real problem stands in the fact that we have a disappointing boot and we should also say that this is not actually an executive car. Besides this the series is almost perfect. The 530d model is best for economy with 44mpg. The green living credentials are not so good with 173g/km of CO2.
