Power & Performance

The BMW 5 Series features a range of three engines, one a little underpowered for this class, and two very powerful. However, its robust overall performance popularity arises from its receptive steering and fantastic suspension. Optional all wheel drive enhances the controlling even more and increase the vehicle remarkable road grip.

The base model 528i comes with an in-line six cylinder engine, which produces 230 horsepower. Automotive reviewers are not impressed by the performance of this engine. If you need a luxurious daily travelling car that can offer joyful driving, then BMW 5 Series base model is the best choice. However, the other two engines are more powerful and you can enjoy extra acceleration. BMW 535i features a twin turbo six cylinder 3.9 litter engine, which produces 300 horsepower. On the other hand, the 550i comes with the V8 4.8 litter engine making 360 horsepower.

BMW claims that the manual 550i can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds, which is pretty fast for large cars. It comes with six speed manual transmission, but switching to a six speed automatic gear box does not cost extra. The most fuel-efficient model is base model 528i with manual transmission, which burns 18 mpg in city and 28 mpg on highway. The 550i has a low fuel economy of 15 mpg city and 22 mpg on highway, which is adequate with so much power.

Although BMW’s engines are usually outstanding, the vehicles gain their flashing popularity in many areas. The BMW 5 Series is placed in the first place on our own efficiency rankings due to its handling.  Nevertheless, a few say the steering is just too hefty at very low speeds. While exploring through almost everything the auto media have composed about the BMW 5 Series that is the closest thing we found a problem.

Interior & Exterior

The 2010 BMW 5 Series comes with a two tone luxurious interior of elegant materials. Some reviewers say that the cabin is too austere and is not comfortable as compare to other luxury large cars. It depends on your taste because some say that the cockpit is awesome and suit for the dynamic driving.

There is no match for the BMW 5 Series front seats comfort and luxury. Seats are perfect for hard driving, and even you can adjust them to any shape. However, the rear seats are a bit small for a luxury large vehicle. There are many interior features like climate control system and a Logic sound system. Reviewers are quite happy with these features.

The car comes with the BMW iDrive interface, which is not user friendly and is often criticized. Reviewers say that it is difficult to learn and very complicated even after you know how to use it. The BMW 5 Series offers 14 cubic feet of trunk space, and it is adequate for normal loads. Furthermore, the storage inside the car is not much decent.

You will love this car because it has so much to offer and most of all the stylish, attractive design. The BMW 5 Series received a design refresh in 2008, but BMW has changed a bit for 2010. The new refresh is appraised by the reviewers, but some are not happy with unusual lines. Nevertheless, the body design is perfect and very attractive at first glance. You cannot take your eyes off from BMW 5 Series, especially the front looks.

Safety & Reliability

BMW 5 Series receives 3 out of 5 ratings for frontal crash test, and it is ok for the car. It receives 5 out of 5 ratings for passenger safety in side-impact crashes. There are many standard features standard in BMW 5 Series like electronic stability control, front seat side airbags, front & rear side curtain airbags and four wheel antilock disc brakes. There is optional rear seat side airbags, but not recommended for those who will use child safety seats. There is also a night vision system and lane departure warning system.

BMW 5 Series is a reliable car; it comes with four year warranty or 50,000 miles basic warranty. Also unlimited mileage BMW road assistance warranty. BMW 5 Series is recommended luxury car for the customers
