The Jaguar F-Type Roadster is the real deal for car enthusiasts because all the models are agile and having wonderful sound. Our review is based on analysis of five different online car reviews and data available on Jaguar website. You may not like the entry-level models due to high price, but the high-end models are perfectly priced considering the power, luxury and economy.
You have a choice of three different models with supercharged petrol engines, 335bhp, 375bhp V6 engines and 488bhp V8 engine. The V6 model goes from 0 to 60 in under five seconds and the V8 is the real game changer.
Jaguar F-Type Price
|Roadster 3.0 V6||£58,520|
|Roadster 3.0 V6 S||£67,520|
|Roadster 5.0 V8 S||£79,985|
Power & Performance
F-Type Roadster comes with an automatic eight speed transmission, which can be controlled manually. If you are looking for sheer performance, then 488bhp V8 engine is the best option. The F-Type V6 is overpriced and slightly slower than Porsche Boxter even F-Type having 30bhp advantage.
The entry-level F-Type has standard shocks, which are comfortable, but the V6 S and V8 S have adaptive system that insures comfort. They remain firm during fast speed and absorb every bump on the road. Steering and handling is comfortable on all the models, but some automotive critics state that it is unstable on motorway speeds.
F-Type is perfectly engineered to suppress wind noise when the roof is up, thanks to wind deflectors. You will love the sound of F-Type, but entry-level V6 is not impressive until you opt for adaptive exhaust. It is standard on both V6 S and V8 S models, which makes both sounds wonderful.
Interior & Exterior
Inside cabin is designed for the motorists, thanks to the controls and middle grab handle. It has all the latest controls like rotary temperature controls, the touch screen is quite confusing to use when you are driving. There is a choice of sports seats that are perfectly supported for drivers rather than conventional Jaguar seats.
Jaguar F-Type Roadster offers enough space for tall passengers, but the boot space is falling short. There is a fabric roof instead of metal roof that can be controlled electronically. It can be opened and closed in 12 seconds at the speed up to 30mph.
F-Type is a perfect example of automotive engineering with upscale build quality. It comes with Xenon headlights, climate control, Bluetooth, DAB Radio, electric seats and satellite navigation. If you are looking for full leather upholstery, then you have to spend more because it costs extra.
Safety & Reliability
Jaguar doesn’t have a good reputation of competing with German rivals in terms of quality, but the Jaguar F-Type has exceptional quality that competes with rival cars. It has a good reliability record and it scored first position in 2012 JD Power and Associates customer satisfaction survey.
F-Type is pre-loaded with plenty of safety features likes stability control, emergency brakes, and four airbags. Soft roofed cars are often considered un-safe, F-Type has deadlocks, alarm and engine immobilizer. It has not yet crash tested by Euro NCAP for safety and there are no reported incidences for the roadster.
eBest Cars Verdict
If you are looking for super fast sports, then Jaguar F-Type can live up to the expectations with 5.0 litre V8 engine. However, running costs, insurance and road tax will be high. The entry level model is not recommended because it is overpriced, V8 S is a perfect blend.
