Power and Performance

With the MX-5, you can choose either the 2.0 or the 1.8-litre engines that have 158bhp and 124bhp respectively. The gearbox is a five speed manual and comes as a standard, though the 2.0 also comes with a six-speeder. Both the 1.8 and the 2.0-litre engines possess both accurate and short gearboxes that make it easy to locate the appropriate gear ratio.

Interior & Exterior

The interior of the MX-5 is surprisingly more comfortable than you might have expected. The seat’s driving position is supportive; minimizing wind noise as a result of its tall height – especially when the roof is down, and also providing protection at the same time. On the other hand, the steering wheels can be adjusted for height, though not for reach. Using its rear window, though small does its best to give good visibility to the driver. The space in the cabin is comfortable too.

The MX-5 1.8 SE comes with electric windows, climate controls and alloy wheels while the 2.0 additionally has upgraded leather seats and stereos, fog lights as well as Bluetooth cruise controls.

With the touch of a button – in just 12 sec, the roof of the MX-5 quickly folds up or down. The boot is roomy for a number of bags, and there are also other storage compartments in the car interior that could be useful when in a trip.

Safety and Reliability

All the MX-5 models come with good stability controls. There are also the double front airbags as well as the side ones. To reduce damage caused as a result of impact, there is also a pop-up system on the bonnet of the MX; this reduces the effect of collision with a pedestrian. The metal roofing system also contributes to its greater security than its other siblings.

MX cars are regarded as reliable and durable cars that you can buy with confidence, especially with the additional security features they come with. Even when driving, you realize the MX-5 is very responsive when you set your foot on the throttle as this has further been modified. Also the brakes are upgraded to give the car greater stability on the roads.

eBest Cars Verdict

The Mazda MX-5 Coupe is reasonably priced, although some could argue they carry a high premium. But really, you may not find convertibles that have similar features at such prices. The resale value is great, making a popular choice for buyers who want fairly used convertibles. Very importantly too, the MX-5 offers low running and maintenance costs.

Mazda MX-5 Coupe Cabriolet offers everything speed, performance, quality and luxury with reasonable price. There is no weak ends and it deserves five star overall rating from most of the car reviewers.
