Summary:

Mini One has a strong support of BMW reliability and performance and it is one of the favourite cars in UK having a long history. This convertible is based on providing you exciting drive and performance. Price is reasonable, but cannot be compared with high performance convertibles.

Car enthusiasts familiar with the Hatchback Mini, will notice that the Mini One convertible has the former’s traits- eye candy and a road monster- not mentioning the fun derived from open-top motoring. The electric fabric roof folds and unfolds at the press of a button although it does limit boot space.

Compared to the hatchback version, the convertible Mini One is a little heavier hence slower thus needs more engine power and this makes it one of the most fun to drive convertibles around. It’s also important to note that the engine works better at higher revolution and the car gives you what you want.

Power & Performance

Driving on twisty roads offers a breath-taking experience due to the heavy steering besides having a ‘go-kart’ handling. This does not mean that town driving is not thrilling either, it is smooth and fun to drive.

Since it’s not diesel powered, purchasing a Mini convertible may be a little costly but maintenance should not be a headache. Compared to other cars, the resale value is expected to be always high. The Mini One is synonymous with fuel efficiency due to a number of features such as the stop-start system on the engine and brake energy regeneration. The aforementioned features in the 1.6 litre petrol engine in the Mini One offers an average of 50mpg, which is quite remarkable for a petrol-powered convertible car

Interior & Exterior

Mini One offers unmatched aerodynamics on any road type. Although the seating position may be a little lower this should not be an issue if you know what you want. The tall Mini lovers might be worried but worry not for you can conveniently drop down the impressive roof which folds down in a tick and rests on the boot top. Be assured of comfortable sitting while being warmed by the heaters fixed on the dashboard. The throttle from engine is friendly to your ears since it is perfectly engineered.

Safety & Reliability

If the findings of a survey by JD Power survey last year are anything to go by, the Mini One is endeared by many motorists. Mechanical reliability topped the list of reasons why it is most liked and this overshadows some of the feature that might be considered to be on the flipside; the stick shaft is very plasticky.

That inspite of, the manufacturers have lived up to their expectations and the British build quality which entails multiple airbags, safety features such as roll bars are a plus. Being a convertible one may be forgiven to think that it’s a death trap but safety of the passenger has been considered. The body has been made stronger and behind the rear seats are two protective hoops which pop up in the event that the car rolls and protect the driver. It goes without saying that the multiple airbags, stability and traction control measures make the Mini One stand out in its league.

eBest Cars Verdict

Want a car that feels your emotions and gives you what you want the Mini One has no equal. Manufactured in Oxford to BMW standards this is a car that is worth your money.

Mini One has a strong support of BMW reliability and performance and it is one of the favourite cars in UK having a long history. This convertible is based on providing you exciting drive and performance. Price is reasonable, but cannot be compared with high performance convertibles.
