Summary:

Cadillac Escalade is a very big SUV with unique individuality that urge car lovers to buy one. It is expensive to buy and outclassed by many premium SUVs in UK.

Cadillac Escalade is a huge elephant of a SUV providing space for eight passengers. Our Cadillac Escalade review is based on analysis of published reviews and data available on Cadillac website. You will hardly find an Escalade on UK roads. It has a strong presence on the road among other cars and it is loaded with plenty of luxury kits.

Many European rivals outclassed the big SUV, but many people love the individuality it holds. It is a left hand drive only SUV and hard to drive on narrow UK roads. The quality is below average as compared to premium luxury SUVs in UK.

Cadillac Escalade Price

Cadillac Escalade comes with 6.2 litre and 6.0 litre V8 Hybrid engine. V8 Sport Luxury edition starts at £65,158, 6.2 litre V8 Platinum Edition starts at £69,724 and 6.0 litre V8 Hybrid Sport Luxury edition starts at £71,489.

Power & Performance

Mammoth Escalade comes with only one engine choice, the 6.2 litre V8 petrol engine that produces 403bhp. It is perfect for pushing the huge body of Escalade providing brisk acceleration. However, the seven speed gearbox disappoint due to jerky performance.

It has soft suspension that absorbs bumps on the road, but it feels uncomfortable on patchy road with weird body movements. Car reviewers are not happy with the steering either because it is not perfect. It is hard to drive the SUV on narrow country roads because of its huge size.

Cadillac Escalade is agile at motorway speeds and generates an impressing sound when you hit the acceleration. You will hardly feel any road noise, but it is like an engine block, which means wind noise can be heard at high speeds.

Interior & Exterior

Behind the wheel it feels great because the sitting position is high and you get a good view on the road. It comes with left hand drive and over the shoulder vision is poor. There are electrically adjustable paddles to suit according to your comfort, but the steering wheel moves for an angle.

Escalade has seating capacity of eight passengers, but the last row is uncomfortable for adults. Boot space is limited with all the seats and the drawback is that you cannot fold the rear seats. You have to take them out to increase the boot space.

Cadillac Escalade is loaded with standard features such as electric and heated seats, leather upholstery, tri-zone climate control, parking sensors and cruise control. The Sport Luxury model adds the cooling front seats, heated steering, satellite navigation and rear seats DVD system.

Safety & Reliability

The quality and reliability are average for Escalade and the wood trim doesn’t give premium feel. Some of the interior fittings look odd and you will hear cracking sounds when driving off-road. However, you are covered with Cadillac warranty.

It is pre-loaded with safety equipment like twin front air-bags, side and curtain airbags for all three rows. Stability control system is standard to keep your drive precise. There are alarms and deadlocks for vehicle security.

eBest Cars Verdict

The looks of Cadillac Escalade will urge you to have one and that is why most of the English Premier League football players love it. If you worry too much about running costs, then this is not meant for you. It is pricey and costly to run with 17.4 mpg fuel economy. If you are an eco-friendly driver, then you will be disappointed with 264 – 342 g/km of CO2 emissions. Vehicle tax rates will be higher as it falls in tax band M making it average £490 tax per year. Resale values will remain low and you will likely to find a good price on used Escalade. As most of you fall for the looks, we also the love the Cadillac Escalade.
