Power & Performance

Mercedes Benz E Class is athletic as BMW 5 Series. Test drivers are not happy with the V6 engine performance, but the V8 in E550 is very impressive. Both the models have the sporty characteristics. It is the perfect choice if you are looking for a sport sedan. It is now matching with other sporty cars like Audi A6.

E Class is available with 3.5 liter V6 engine, which produces 268 horsepower and in V8 E550 5.5 liter with 382 horsepower. Both the trims come with seven-speed automatic transmission, which can also be used to shift gears manually. Reviewers are happy with V6 engine, but some find it doesn’t match with other German automakers.

The fuel economy is also about average with 18 mpg in city and 26 mpg on highway. The E550 model fuel economy is not good with 16 mpg in city and 24 mpg on highway. It is a fully size heavy sedan, but it lacks the handling of a sports sedan. Most of the test drivers are happy with the handling and say that many things improved from the old model. There are two different driving modes Comfort and Sport, you can change them according to your needs.

Interior & Exterior

E Class is one of the few luxury cars that are designed to provide the classic model luxury theme. It reminds you of old luxury Mercedes car with modern touch. Still, there are so many things to mention in new Mercedes Benz E Class. There is no shortage of latest and advanced electronics, some reviewers find the COMAND climate and climate control is too high tech and hard to understand.

There is new interior designing like aluminum trim and gathered leather lining the door panels, which gives a good luxurious feel. The standard seats are comfortable for long journeys, but there is now option of new seats found in S-Class, and they are now available in E Class. These are customizable and can be reshaped according to the drivers needs. These seats are also heated, cooled and offer massage function, which is very comfortable.

Now Mercedes has included the multi contour seats, and they are appreciated by the customers and reviewers. Mercedes has also redesigned the cabin, and it is more spacious than the previous model. There is a similarity in cabin measurements, but there are subtle differences. Reviewers are not happy with high tech COMAND system, they found it very difficult to use.

There is a 15.9 cubic foot of trunk space in 2010 E Class, which is enough for the luxury sedan. There is one thing that reviewers say about the design that “it doesn’t photograph well”. Reviewers like the new change in the sheet metal of the new E Class. The new design blends the traditional styling with the new modern lines. There is a drawback that it doesn’t look good in photographs, but you’ll love the new design. There is an attraction in a new model that you can sense, and it is hard to explain. You can experience when you see it on the road or in a car showroom and notice how it affects your intuition. There is also E Class Coupe model.

Safety & Reliability

Mercedes E Class receives the five out of five rating for its ability to prevent rollover in a crash. There are many safety features available in the new E Class. There are nine standard airbags, including driver sides’ knee airbag. There is also torso protecting rear seat side airbags that can increase the total to 11.

Mercedes engineers say that the car’s safety cage is specially designed from lightweight high strength steel to prevent any damage during accidents. There are many safety features like Attention Assist that tracks the driver’s behavior for the first 20 minutes. It notes down 70 variables in driver behavior. If the driver is falling asleep, the system will sound a warning system chime and displays a coffee cup sign on the speedometer. Adaptive Highbeam Assist automatically lowers the high beam headlights when a car is approaches in an oncoming lane. It helps in avoiding the momentarily blinding of oncoming car drivers. Brake Assist Plus can reduce the severity of a crash. It can begin braking if it senses an impending collision.

The new E Class is the reliable car to drive. It comes with a New Vehicle Limited Warranty that covers 50,000 miles or 48 months, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes roadside assistance for the time.
